The regularly scheduled Barry County Parks & Recreation Commission meeting for Thursday, March 26, 2020, has been CANCELED.

UPDATED 3/24/2020

In accordance with Governor Whitmer Executive Order No. 2020-21 issued on Monday, March 23, 2020, all buildings will remain closed to the public through April 13th. This applies to all offices, maintenance facilities, and restroom buildings. All Parks Commission grounds, trails, and recreational areas, remain open to provide residents with outdoor recreational opportunities, provided all visitors practice proper social distancing - at least 6 feet between yourself and another person.

In accordance with action taken by the Barry County Board of Commissioners’ on March 17, 2020, approving the Barry County COVID-19 Operations Plan, the Barry County Parks & Recreation Commission will be closing all buildings to the public beginning Wednesday, March 18, 2020 through Sunday, April 5, 2020. This includes cancellation of the next Barry County Parks & Recreation Commission meeting scheduled for March 26, 2020.

All Parks Commission grounds, trails, and recreational areas, remain open at this time for enjoying the outdoors and some fresh Michigan air. These include the Historic Charlton Park Recreation Area and Trails, McKeown Bridge Park, and Paul Henry Thornapple Trail sections. We continue to emphasize that you maintain the social distancing guidelines when using outdoor amenities and follow all CDC and Barry/Eaton District Health Department COVID-19 guidelines for preventing exposure. Please check back regularly for any updates and/or changes to operational procedures.

Anyone requiring services from Parks Commission staff in person must call ahead and schedule an appointment in advance. Those who schedule an appointment may be screened upon entering any building operated by the Parks Commission. The Historic Village will remain closed until further notice and appointments can only be made for visiting the main office or maintenance shop office.
