Resourceful Women Opening Reception
The community is invited to attend a free opening reception for Resourceful Women: 30 Who Worked to Preserve Michigan’s Water, Woods, and Wildlife on Thursday, April 11th at 5:30 p.m. in the Carlton Center Church at Historic Charlton Park. The guest speaker will be Patricia Birkholz, former state Senator and current West Michigan Director of the Michigan League of Conservation Voters. After Birkholz speaks, attendees will have the chance to view the exhibit in the newly renovated Irving D. Charlton Memorial Museum. Refreshments will be provided by the Charlton Park Village and Museum Foundation whose financial support made the renovation possible.
The exhibit from the Michigan Women’s Historical Center & Hall of Fame in Lansing will be on display from April 8th through June 16th, 2013. The exhibit will be the first in the newly renovated first floor of the stone museum building. It highlights Michigan women from 1897-1980 who worked to protect the environment. A section devoted to the Barry County Sportswomen’s Club and other Barry County women committed to conservation will be part of the exhibit as well.
